Applications are now open for the Western Australian Training Awards, giving apprentices, trainees, students, employers, and training organisations the chance to be recognised as the best in their field.
The Cook Government is creating opportunities for Western Australians to skill, upskill or reskill to support our growing economy through fee-free and low-fee TAFE courses, and schemes including the Job and Skills WA Employer Incentive and the Adult Apprentice Employer Incentive.
These awards recognise excellence in vocational education and training.
Past winners include 2022 WA Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Student of the Year Wayne Ryder, who featured in the 'You can make it here' campaign that celebrates TAFE and the training opportunities it provides.
WA achieved national success at the 2025 Australian Training Awards, with Arabella Poole named Australian Vocational Student of the Year and Taylorweir Hairdresser and Barber Training named Australia's Small Training Provider of the Year.
The WA Training Awards are delivered by the Department of Training and Workforce Development and supported by major partners including the State Training Board, Training Accreditation Council, Jobs and Skills WA, returning principal sponsor MEGT, Apprenticeship Support Australia, Construction Training Fund, and ECA WA.
Applications close on 10 April 2026. Apply at wa.gov.au/watrainingawards [Opens in new window].
