For more than 10 years, the Department’s Aboriginal Traineeship Program has provided employment pathways and career development opportunities for Aboriginal people.

The program provides trainees with hands-on experience across various business areas within Justice, helping trainees develop practical public administration skills.

Director General Kylie Maj said the Aboriginal Traineeship Program reflects the Department’s commitment to reconciliation and supports national Closing the Gap priorities.

“Growing Aboriginal representation within our workforce strengthens cultural capability across the Department, ensures a broader range of perspectives inform our work, and helps us build stronger relationships with Aboriginal people and communities throughout Western Australia,” Ms Maj said.
